Businessman (The Denver Post)

Anyone who hangs around the Capitol for any length of time eventually meets businessman Jim Noon.

He’s an expert on the dreaded business personal-property tax, which taxes equipment used by companies.

He also was at the Capitol this year to oppose eliminating various tax credits, including the tax exemption on candy and soft drinks.

Noon today was honored as Colorado’s Solveras/ Small Business Champion of the Year.

“I could call him for legislative testimony at 2 a.m. if I had to,” , director of the Colorado chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business, said in a statement.

“We do not give this award lightly. That this is the second time Jim Noon has been named a Small Business Champion is because he has done the most to advance the small business agenda this year, especially during the legislative session.”

Noon owns Centennial Container, a corrugated box and packaging company.
